Absentee or Left Bids You can bid by filling out the Bidding Form (on this page) and submitting it to the office by way of email or fax by the end of preview day. Please register with the Visa, Mastercard, American Express or DiscoverCredit Card information your intend to use for payment. Credit card information is required to confirm any left bids. All winning bidders will be invoiced that night and card account charged the following day. If you email bids to us, please give us the contact information to call you to confirm bids or they will not be accepted. We make every effort to protect bidder privacy, so understand all bidding is confidential. Hewlett's does not divulge how much a left bid is or who has left bids.
Phone Bids On the more expensive lots ($500.00 and up) we can make arrangements to call you at the time the lot is coming up and you may bid over the telephone on the lots as they are being sold. Our phone lines and auction associates are limited resources. Please make arrangements well in advance. Understand, we work very hard to accommodate everyone and provide them with an experienced associate, so please make arrangements early. Please read terms and conditions of sale.
Internet Bidding In the last couple of years we have tried to stay ahead of, or atleast keep up with current technology. On most auctions we make arrangements with an online auction site and load our entire catalog on their site about 7-10 days prior to the sale day. (You do not have to register with the Company to view the Catalog.) A special link will be provide for each auction at the top of our auction page. After you have registerd online, you must sign up for the auction you wish to participate, then you can start submitting bids. Proxibid porvides audio, so be sure to plug in your speakers and listen for the auctioneers annoucement and order of sale. (We go Live 30 minutes before start of sale.) Regardless of where you are in this country or where you are in the world you can register and our technician will see your bid and bid actively on your behalf . You can hear this all happening Live. Understand this is a live auction and Bidding goes pretty fast so be ready! If you are serious about an item bid as high as you are comfortable in the begining. This is not Ebay, trying to wait out the auctioneer or sneak in at the last minute will more than likely have a negative result on your behalf. A 5% Premium is charge on top of our normal seller's premium of 12.5%, bidding online is convenient and cost effective for many clients who wish to attend auctions in the comfort of home or work. TERMS & CONDITIONS OF A WINNING BID
By submitting a bid, the BUYER hereby consents to all of the terms and conditions set forth herein. The obligation to pay for items for which the BUYER was the successful bidder is absolute at the time of the fall of the hammer and is not conditional on inspection or appraisal of the items purchased. The BUYER bears the risk of all patent and latent defects, whether or not apprised of such by Hewlett Auctions or consignor. All items are sold as-is, where-is with no exceptions. The auctioneer will acknowledge the high bidder of each lot and will be sole judge of the purchaser of each item. In the case of duplicate left bids the one received first will have preference? The Buyer assumes full responsibility for items at the fall of the hammer. The record of sale kept by the auction house will be taken as final in the event of any dispute. Unless other arrangements have been make with the auction house, all phone bids will require a deposit set forth by the auction company. Hewlett’s Auctions will not be responsible for failure to execute left or phone bids. There is a buyer’s premium added to the hammer price of each lot and it will be considered part of the total purchase price. All buyers will be subject to California sales tax unless the buyer possesses a valid tax-exempt. Reseller’s number or in the case of a purchase from outside of California. Hewlett’s Auctions reserves the right to hold property until checks clear. Buyers intending to purchase expensive items should discuss payment prior to day of sale.
Arrangements for shipping and storage should be made prior to the auction and will be at the Purchaser’s expense. The BUYER hereby agrees that Hewlett’s Auction is entitled to recover one to three times the written check amount, attorney’s fees and costs of collection from the BUYER in the event that the BUYER fails or refuses to pay in full for items for which the purchaser was the high bidder.
Hewlett’s Auction may in its sole discretion waive any term(s) of these Terms and Condition of Sale to any party at any time without notice to the purchaser. The BUYER agrees that Hewlett’s Antique Auctions shall not be liable for the waiver of any term hereof to any party.
The purchaser is bound by these terms and conditions of sale by participating in any auction held by Hewlett’s Antique Auctions.
Auctioneer's announcements will take precedence over any printed material.
